Walk Route: Thames Coastal walk is an easy, mostly flat concrete path/board walk with great views of the Firth of Thames and some interesting path art. You will see lovely historical homes along the way, mangroves and an old railway station. There is also an off leash dog area which is reasonably secure – fenced on one side and water on the other sides- to let the hounds run around and play. Morning tea will be held inside the facilities of Twentymans Funerals Services which is owned by Adrian Catran, a long time Club member and lover of Beagles. Adrian has very kindly opened his facilities to the Club so we can relax after the walk and have a cuppa without worrying about the weather. He is happy to show members around the facilities (which includes a state-of-the-art pet crematorium) should you be interested.

Directions: About 1 hour 25 mins from Auckland CBD. From the southern motorway take exit 477 for state highway 2 toward coromandel peninsula, then follow state Highway25 to the Kopu Bridge. At the roundabout, turn left then second on left and stay on SH 25 for 6-7 kms into Thames town Centre until you come to another roundabout(with KFC on the corner). Go straight through the roundabout into the residential area. Looking straight ahead you will see on your right a Resene Paint shop. At that shop immediately turn right into Pahau St. Then go left into Kirkwood Street (a one-way street). Look for Twentymans on your right. You can park anywhere in the car parkas there are no funerals on a Sunday.

Walk Time: Approximately 60 minutes.

On leash/Off leash: This is a mostly on leash walk but there is an off-leash area as part of the walk. Please contact Ray Linton Brown on 021618465 or Adrian Catran on 0212785657 if you have any queries.

Cup of Tea anyone? Can I please encourage you all to stay and socialize after the walk.... The club will be providing free morning tea and snacks for members. Non-members welcome to join, or a koha coin donation for morning tea.

Remember: It is advisable not to leave any valuables in vehicles, and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for poor weather conditions and offroad walking.

Don’t forget to take water and poo bags for your dogs.

Rain, Hail or shine the Beagle Club walks go ahead!
