Route: This reserve is on a tidal estuary and is part of the Coast-to-Coast walkway.
There is a large open space and beach area as well as a playground, skateboard ramp, plenty of seating and toilets. It is a partially paved path, generally easy but with some steep bits and some steps. It has a great scenic outlook with amazing views of Mangere Mountain.
Directions: From the CBD, take western motorway and take exit toward airport/ Manakau. Continue on SH 20 and take exit 13 for Neilson Street. Turn left onto Gloucester Park Rd and turn left onto Princes Street and turn left onto Beachcroft Ave.
Walk Time: Approximately 60 minutes.
On leash/Off leash: This is mainly an on-leash area. However, there is a free range off leash area alongside the lagoon- at owners’ responsibility so dogs must be controlled.
Cup of Tea anyone? Please stay and socialize after the walk - you will meet other beagle owners and it’s lovely for the beagles. The club will be providing free morning tea for members. Non-members- koha gold coin donation. Contact: Please contact Ray Linton-Brown if you have any queries on 021 618 465.
Remember: It is advisable not to leave any valuables in vehicles, and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for poor weather conditions and off road walking.
Don’t forget to take water and poo bags for your dogs.
Rain, hail or shine our Beagle walks go ahead!
