Meeting Place: Carpark at the end of Park Ave through the Domain gates. Look out for the Club Flag. See photo below. There are toilets here.
Route: Lake Hakanoa is a riverine lake with links to Waikato River. It is located within the eastern side of the Huntly township. The domain, lake and surrounding wetlands cover 230 acres. There is a 3.6km walking track around the lake and trout were introduced to the lake in 1907 (however, these days koi carp and mosquito fish are the most common.) This is a loop walk and we hope to walk right around the lake - although sometimes wet weather can flood one area making this difficult. But it’s still a good walk with lots of lovely themed gardens to see along the way. A flat easy walk with wide paths.
