Route: Boyd Park is the main sports ground for Te Aroha. But approximately two thirds of it are wetlands. The whole area is 27 hectares. The wetland walk has a boardwalk leading to a bird watching hut. It is a pleasant walk for all ages and fitness levels and is a mixture of grass and track and boardwalk. Very picturesque.
Directions: From SH26 to Te Aroha main street, you should be on Whitaker Street- follow it around to the right at the clock tower and go over the “rose pink bridge”. Then at the end of the road, turn right onto Stanley Ave and you will see the entrance to Boyd Park about 100m on your right. Go down the long driveway to the carpark.
Walk Time: Approximately 50-60 mins.
On leash/Off leash: This is an on-leash area apart from the designated dog exercise area.
Cup of Tea anyone? Can I please encourage you all to stay and socialize after the walk and morning tea is free for members or a koha gold coin donation for nonmembers.
