Meeting Place: Park your car on Charles Prevost Drive (opposite number 61 or thereabouts) and look out for the Auckland Beagle Club flag. There is a carpark nearby but that can sometimes be full. There are toilets close by.

Route: Dogs are permitted in the Botanic gardens but must be on leash. There is an off leash area at the northern end near the Totara Park end. These gardens are a lush and magnificent place to visit. There is even a children’s garden and a play area. The paths are mostly concrete and suitable for most ages and mobility. A few dirt paths and slight inclines. May require boots in very wet weather but running shoes mostly ok. There is a café and visitors center. Very scenic walk with lots of themed gardens and home to more than 10,000 plants from around the world. More relaxed than most botanic gardens.

Directions: About 35-40 mins from the CBD. Travelling south on the Southern Motorway (SH1) exit at the Manurewa /Hill road exit (exit 451). Turn left onto Hill Road and the main entrance is the first driveway on the left. Charles Prevost Drive is off Hill Road.

Walk Time: Approximately 60 minutes.

On leash/Off leash: See above. Most of the walk is on lead but there is an off leash area. Please contact Ray Linton Brown on 021618465 if you have any queries.

Cup of Tea anyone? Can I please encourage you all to stay and socialize after the walk? The club will be providing free morning tea and snacks for members. Non-members welcome to join, or a koha coin donation for morning tea.

Remember: It is advisable not to leave any valuables in vehicles, and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for poor weather conditions and off road walking. Don’t forget to take water and poo bags for your dogs.

Rain, Hail or shine the Beagle Club walks go ahead!
