Te Ara Tahuna shared path map (for web)

Date: Sunday 15th November 2015
Time: 10am start – the walk will take approximately 2 hours.
Meeting Place: Orewa Estuary Information Centre, Orewa, Auckland

Route: Make your way North on state highway 1. Travel North until you come to the Silverdale and Whangaparaoa turnoff. Turn right, at the roundabout towards Silverdale and travel on the Hibiscus Coast Highway. Go through Silverdale past the Whangaparaoa turnoff, until you are coming down the hill into Orewa. As you travel over the Orewa Estuary Bridge, turn immediately left into the car park and information centre. Public Toilets are available here.  Refer to Google map at bottom of page for more detail.

Walk details: The walk will start behind the car park and follow the concrete path around the perimeter of the Orewa Estuary. This track is shared with bikers and walkers. It is mainly an on leash walk, although at the far north end of the track there is plenty of room for an off leash period. The track travels across some interesting bridge structures, and either side of the concrete path in some places there are large grass areas , At the end of the walk there is a concrete boat ramp that will provide good access for those who wish to swim their dogs. I would like to encourage those of you who may have some time after the walk to socialise with us all at the (dog Friendly) Café behind the information centre.

Note: It is advisable not to leave any valuables in vehicles, and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for poor weather conditions and off road walking.

Please advise Terry Humphries ( 0212749145 or 09-5365847) or Karen Staniland (09-8109516) the day prior to the event or simply turn up on time on the day.
