Route:

From the state highway 1 either coming from south, North, or West take the “PORTS” of Auckland turn-off which leads you onto Stanley Street.

When you come to the intersection of Beach Rd/ Stanley St & Parnell Rd Rise. turn right to go under the old Railway Bridge and on up Parnell Rise .

Travel right through Parnell shopping centre to the top of the hill. At the top of Parnell Rise, keep the Holy Trinity Cathedral on your left as you continue along Parnell Road towards Newmarket.

At the next intersection’s set of traffic lights, turn left into Ayr Street.

Approximately 300 mtrs down the hill on your right is the entrance to Newmarket Park.   If you reach the roundabout you have gone a little too far.

 Walk details:

This walk will start at our meeting place in the Car Park.

We will walk along a track that leads us back towards the Newmarket Rail lines exiting onto a short distance of residential back avenues that lead us onto a wooden planked walkway, which in turn leads down through the bushed Valley of Newmarket where we can have some off leash fun. You will be surprised that this track exists in the heart of Newmarket.

At the bottom of this valley we cross the road into Thomas Bloodworth Park for some more off leash fun.  This park has a pathway around the perimeter of Hobson Bay.

From here we lead into Shore Road Reserve (dogs back on lead) keeping to the perimeter of the reserve as this is where Saturday Sports will be in action.

Once we have circled this reserve, we head back along the park’s edges of Shore Road to our Car Park.

Walk Time

Approximately 2 Hours

Can I please encourage you all to bring along something to eat & drink at the end of the walk in the Car Park, (there is a Park bench we can use), and for those who might have time to socialize after the walk. (You will need the rest!!)

Please advise Terry Humphries (021 274 9145 or 09 5365847) or Karen Staniland (09 8109516) by 9am on the day, or simply turn up on time on the day

Note: It is advisable not to leave any valuables in vehicles, and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for poor weather conditions and off road walking. Remember to bring water and some poo bags for your dogs.

Beagle walks go ahead on the day, rain or shine!
