Beagle Walk – KareKare Beach West Coast – Sat 21st June 2014

NOTE:  THIS WALK HAS CHANGED. We are no longer going to Anawhata.  The new location is KareKare. These are the changed and up to date details for the walk on the 21st June 2014.

Route:  Head along the north-western motorway. Get off at Lincoln Road. At the end of Lincoln Road turn into Great North Road. At first set of lights turn right into Henderson Valley Road. At the roundabout take Forest Hill Road and drive to the end. Turn right into West Coast Road. At the end of West Coast Road turn right into Scenic Drive. Travel approximately 200m and take Piha Road at the junction. Karekare and Anawhata are signposted off Piha Road.  Google Map is shown at the bottom of this post.

Walk details: This walk will start at our meeting place in the Car Park, a short walk back along the road will bring us to the local baches & resident houses where a small walkway leads up & over a small hill down onto the Beach at the Northern end, from here we will continue to the far north end, then back along the entire beach to the south end, from here there is a winding grassed & sandy track that leads back to the car park. At this point I will try to encourage you (for those that still may have some energy left) to walk a very short 25mtrs walk up the road to the local popular Water Fall (an extra 5 minute walk)

Walk Time Approximately to 2 Hours

May I please encourage you all to bring along something to eat & drink at the end of the walk in the Car Park for those who might have time to socialize after the walk. (You might need the rest!!)

Note: It is advisable not to leave any valuables in vehicles, and to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for poor weather conditions and off road walking. Remember to bring water and poo bags for your dogs.
