Meeting Place: Car Park off Meola Road. Look out for the Auckland Beagle Club flag. The carpark for the Dog Park is quite small so you may have to park on Meola Road, which is quite narrow (many people park on berm or with two wheels on berm).
Route: The walk is mostly flat with a gravel/dirt footpath and grass. There are toilets near the car park. The area can get a bit muddy in the winter so bring robust footwear. There are great views of the Waitemata harbour across to Chelsea Sugar refinery.
Directions: Head towards 81- 189 Meola Rd Point Chevalier. Look for the car park in the photo below. It is on the opposite side from the sport fields and MOTAT aviation display.
Walk Time: Approximately 40 minutes.
On leash/Off leash: There is an off leash area in the designated field at the headland. This field is fully fenced so you can let your dog off and it is safe inside an enclosed area. There is a long grass area and water spots for swimming. This is a popular park and there will usually be other dogs playing around. It is fun for the dogs who can race around like lunatics in an enclosed area. The remainder of the walk is on lead.
Cup of Tea anyone? Can I please encourage you all to stay and socialize after the walk? The club will be providing free morning tea for members. Non-members welcome to join, koha donation.
