Route: Mangere Mountain – Te Pane o Mataaoho – is located within Mangere Domain and is Auckland’s best preserved dormant volcanic cone. It sits 106 metres above sea level. The views across the Manukau harbor and surrounding suburbs are to die for. To get to the top it’s mostly an easy walk on a mixture of gravel and grass path/track but there are some steep parts and concrete stairs so a moderate level of fitness is required. Not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Can be muddy and slippery if wet.
Directions: From the city heading south on the southern motorway, take exit 12 toward Mangere Bridge village. Turn right onto Rimu Rd and left into Crawford Ave and then right onto Hastie Ave and then continue on to Domain Drive. From the south heading north take the Mangere Bridge exit. Turn right onto Coronation Rd and left onto Domain Rd.
Walk Time: Approximately 60 minutes.
On leash/Off leash: This is an on-lead walk for the most part but there are some off leash areas. Please contact Ray Linton Brown on 021618465 if you have any queries.
